I joined Lintas from campus, but within a few months realized that client servicing and the advertising culture was not my cup of tea. Luckily for me, my exposure to market research during those grueling days sparked an interest in me for qualitative research. Since then it’s been close to 22 years of being in this field, albeit with different companies, starting with MARG and now have been with Ipsos for the last 6 years.
I have enjoyed being in this field, though it is still not considered to be one of the `happening’ and `sought after’ careers. But in my field each day is a new day- with a multitude of clients, each with their own set of idiosyncrasies, a young and inspiring team and most importantly a lot of flexibility of working from home /part time which helped me to give ample time to my family. This of course meant some compromises that I had to make but I have lived by the motto `A person who is happy is not because everything is right in his life, he is happy because his attitude towards everything in life is right’
In these last 25 years I have lived across several cities in India and also spent a few years in Singapore.
On the personal front we live in Gurgaon. My husband Sumit is a marketing professional. I have a 16 year old son Dhruv who is getting ready for university. Between work and home I try and catch up on books, movies, shopping and playing spider solitaire on my phone.
