25 years after JBIMS…and still a nascent student of life!
I still remember the day when I set out of campus way back in 1992 with a gleam of glamorous corporate expectation and the works! My journey thereafter has been a roller-coaster of sorts, teaching me a host of life-lessons, & reminding me of the saying, “Whenever I thought I had answers to all questions of life, they changed the questions” ! Moving from the Financial Services sector to managing finances and profitability for an IT Services company, I have been extremely fortunate to have handled many aspects of the corporate world, including listing of the company’s shares on the bourses & international commercial negotiations, amongst others. Given that the services sector is (arguably) largely about managing Talent and related human behaviour, I completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Resources Management from XLRI, Jamshedpur, which, interestingly aided me in influencing the most appropriate behavior within my sector, thereby actually improving margins and growth.
I am ever so grateful to the Divine when I say that I am a happy “family man” for a few years now. Suguna, my spouse works for Emerson Engineering; she enjoys music and learns classical music. My son, Vrajesh is shaping up to be a fine young man, studying B.E. -Electronics and Instrumentation, second yearwith BITS Pilani -Goa Campus. He also continues to pursue his interests in percussion (plays the drums for his college band, apart from playing the Djembe). My daughter, Sucharitaa studies in Class VIII and excels in dance and other forms of art. While we live in Pune, I do spend time with my ageing parents, who continue to live in Mumbai.
Life now, is about running an optimized personal dashboard, balancing aspects of Relationships & Health alongside Careerand Comforts. Above all, a realization that the art of “giving back” to society at large has become a key driver…. I now contribute to the academic world through guidance to Finance MBA syllabi, by being on Academic Advisory Boards of a few Management Institutes, apart from training, mentoring, counselling and contributing to some interesting charity initiatives!
