SalilDatar
Post campus I enjoyed my stint at ANZ Grindlays - this included three course meals, siesta rooms in office, sailing off the Gateway of India on the Grindlays sail boat on which I proposed to Rupali (pretty impressive ha !), 6 months at Kolkata, corporate footfall at CCFC, scored a record double hundred in a 45 over ANZ Grindlays South-East Asia Cup cricket match (aaha !!)- FYI, all this was during the Harshad Mehta scam time in which ANZ Grindlays was in the thick of things and the Babri Masjid riots ..(good lord).
Married Dr Rupali Gore - for the record, we have 3 surnames in my family – Im a Datar, Rupali is a Gore (she continues to keep her maiden name / surname), my kids Nissim (21 already) and Sanaa (now all of 18) are Gore-Datar.
Amongst some of the memorable moments – the fun moments at the initial couple of Alumni Dinners , which those married (like me) attended with spouses, flew down to Joberg to witness the forgettable India Australia World Cup Finals at Joberg, lucky to be part of the Cricket Diplomacy chartered trip to witness the India- Pakistan One day at Lahore alogwith the Who’s Who of Corporate India under the stewardship of K V Kamat, witnessed the unforgettable winning 6 of M S Dhoni at Wankhede getting India the world cup, the runs on the sea link stretch of the Stanc Mumbai Marathon followed by the hospitality at the VIP lounge (courtesy Shymal), enjoyed the Goa get together organised thanks to Ronnie and Neha..
As I sign off here’s a recent Family pic..
Cheers to the Batch of 1992 !!! Silver done…now go for the Gold !!!
