Have remained a risk professional (risky guy!) throughout my career. Started my post Bajaj career with CRISIL wherein I spent some time with S&P too. I later joined Enron in their risk team but two years later experienced the pains of losing a job when they decided to quit India (yeah, never saw this risk coming). I then joined ICICI - Risk and have continued with them. In between, I left for the UK and after 7 years returned to Mumbai after swearing allegiance to the English Queen (what a shame! I cannot become India’s PM now). I currently manage, inter alia, all risks in ICICI’s international exposures (making healthy contributions to the Bank’s increasing NPAs!) while my peripatetic job fulfills my love for travelling. For a boring banking risk professional, I developed a fairly aggressive personal risk appetite after I realized I was not going to become ICICI Bank’s CEO or for that matter even the CRO. I took up trekking seriously (did a good deal of it in the Himalayas, the Alps and the Sahyadris), got certified as a scuba diver (did some diving off the UK and Indian coasts) and tried becoming a certified airplane pilot too but could not continue with my flying lessons (it’s pretty expensive). “Work hard, play hard” has been my motto.Have always strived to take time off to stop and smell the flowers while running the proverbial rat race. My wife Dr. Renuka, is an anaesthesiologist whose footsteps my daughter Manasi, wants to follow (her 12thstandard exams are currently on) while my son Aarav, is in school. My parents are healthy and live nearby. All said, it’s been a contended life but the best is yet to come! |
